The Protection of the Holy Theotokos
Russian Orthodox Church
The Protection of the Holy Theotokos
Russian Orthodox Church is under the Diocese
of Chicago and Mid-America serving the greater Austin,
TX area.
The Protection of the Holy Theotokos Russian Orthodox Church sends its joyful congratulations to our newly-enthroned Metropolitan, Hilarion. Many Years, Vladika!
Troparion of the Holy Protection of
the Theotokos, in Tone 4
Today we Orthodox people joyfully keep
festival, being illumined by thy glorious coming among
us, O Mother of God; and gazing upon thy most pure image,
we say with compunction: Shelter us with thy most precious
Protection, and deliver us from all evil, and pray to
thy Son, Christ our God, that He save our souls.
Kontakion of the Holy Protection of
the Theotokos, in Tone 3
Today the Virgin doth stand before us
in the church, and with the choirs of Saints invisibly
prayeth to God for us. Angels worship with Hierarchs,
Apostles rejoice with Prophets, for the Theotokos prayeth
for us to the Eternal God.
About Our Church
The church was begun by a group of Russian Orthodox
believers in 2001, with the hopes of establishing a
Russian-language church in Austin. During 2001-2004
the church temporary building was remodeled and all
necessary church items and icons were brought from Russia.
The church has had major Parish’s feast days services
with Father Lubomir Kupec, priest from St. Vladimir
Russian Orthodox Church in Houston.
In July of 2007, Bishop Peter of Cleveland assigned
Father Cassian Sibley, an English-speaking convert to
Orthodoxy who serves as the rector of the Theotokos
of the Life-Giving Spring Russian Orthodox Church in
Bryan/College Station, TX, to also serve as the
rector of our church.
It is the desire of our Bishop, of Father Cassian, and
of our community, that there be a united Russian Orthodox
Church in Austin, to serve as a light to the greater
Austin area, and to bring glory to God. We are currently
an English language church (with some Slavonic) of the
Russian Orthodox Church under the Diocese
of Chicago and Mid-America.
All are welcome!
Our location is now at 5401-B
